A Circle of Children is a 1977 American drama movie.
Movie creation
The movie is based on the 1974 autobiographical novel A Circle of Children by Mary MacCracken about her experiences working at a school for emotionally disturbed children.
Autism
The school's headmaster describes the students as "autistic, schizophrenic, brain damaged, emotionally disturbed", though it is not stated what the diagnosis of each individual child is.
Actor Matthew Labyorteaux, who plays Brian O'Connell, is described as having been autistic as a child but his autistic symptoms having gone away due to a change in diet.[1][2][3]
Sequel
A sequel titled Lovey: A Circle of Children, Part II was released in 1978. It is based on the 1974 autobiographical novel Lovey: A Very Special Child, also by Mary MacCracken.
