Benjamin "BeBe" Proud is a main character in the animated series The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.
Character creation
Disney specifically sought an autistic African-American voice actor, which is how they landed on Aiden Dodson for the role.[1]
Autism
BeBe gets diagnosed with autism in season 2, episode 9: "BeBe". His mother quickly accepts this, while his father remains stuck in denial for a while before finally accepting it. BeBe then goes to a school specifically for autistic children.
Reception
Clips from the episode where BeBe gets diagnosed, along with his father's denial and subsequent acceptance, when viral as the episode got released in early February 2023.[2]
