Character creation

Isabelle Sorensen and Donald Morton are based on the real-life couple Jerry and Mary Newport. Like their fictional counterparts, they both have Asperger's and savant-like abilities. The two met at a support group for adult autistics, which Jerry helped found.[2] Various parts of Jerry's life are translated into Donald's character; he can do complex mental maths, his love for whales, and his jobs as a cab driver and later statistical analyst.[3]
