Elle Bíbi-Imbelé Ifíè is the main character in The Leap Cycle series of middle grade books by Patience Agbabi.
Character creation
Author Patience Agbabi has an autistic son.[1] She also read autobiographies by autistic people, medical articles about autism in girls, newspaper articles by late-diagnosed autistic women, and the novel "M in the Middle: Secret Crushes, Mega-Colossal Anxiety and the People’s Republic of Autism", a book written by students from a school for autistic girls and their teacher.[2] Autistic author Lizzi Huxley-Jones served as a sensitivity reader.[3]
Synopsis
Born on February 29, Elle is a Leapling. She also has The Gift—the ability to leap through time.
