Isabelle Sorensen is a main character in the American romantic comedy-drama film Mozart and the Whale.

Character creation

Isabelle Sorensen and Donald Morton are based on the real-life couple Jerry and Mary Newport. Like their fictional counterparts, they both have Asperger's and savant-like abilities. The two met at a support group for adult autistics, which Jerry helped found.^[2] Many aspects of Isabelle's character are sourced from Mary's life, such as working as a piano tuner, her talents in composing music and painting, and her Mozart costume during Halloween.^[3]
