Doctor Isidore Latham is a recurring character in the American hospital series Chicago Med.

Character creation

Actor Ato Essando met with the African-American rabbi Capers Funnye to prepare for the Jewish aspect of the character.[1] He also spoke with multiple autistic people.[2]

Biography

Isidore is introduced in the first episode of season 2 as a cardiothoracic surgeon. His literal-mindedness makes it difficult for him to understand emotional responses from staff and patients. On the other hand, he has a keen eye for detail which allows him to see things others can't.

Autism

Isidore himself suspects that he has Asperger's, a suspicion that is confirmed by head of psychiatry Daniel Charles.[3]
