Lola is a supporting character in the American comedy-drama movie Cha Cha Real Smooth.
Character creation
The initial concept for the movie was developed by writer-director Cooper Raiff while in college.[1] They wanted to specifically cast an autistic actress for the role, and wound up finding Vanessa Burghardt.[2] She also helped with developing the character. This is her first movie role.[3] They also consulted with RespectAbility, a self-advocacy nonprofit for people with disabilities.[4]
Autism
Lola is stated to be autistic in the movie. She has a collection of potato mashers.
