Emmy is a character in the American horror film Noise in the Middle.
Character creation
The idea for the movie stems from writers Marcus McCollum and Glen Kannon being frustrated by having difficulty communication with their teenage daughters in modern pop culture. McCollum also watched a variety of other movies to find inspiration, including Rain Man and The Shining, as well as horror movies focused on communication such as A Quiet Place, Alien and Us.[1]
Autism
Emmy is stated to be autistic in the film, as well as in the official synopsis.[2] She is mostly nonspeaking, and learns to use AAC later on in the film.
