Sarah is the main character of the French short film Je suis juste là (I Am Right There).
Character creation
Writer-director Jade Le Bloas is an educator who has worked with autistic children. Along with co-director Camille Mapoula, they researched autism and spoke with autistic activist and philosopher Josef Schovanec, as well as attended a Café Asperger meeting from Asperger Amitié. The goal of the short was to dedramatise and inform about Asperger syndrome.[1] There are plans to make a long-play film, though it is unclear how far along they are.[2]
Autism
Sarah describes herself as having "syndrome d'Asperger" (Asperger syndrome).
