Shepherd "Shep" O'Conner is a major character in the thriller novel By the Light of the Moon by Dean Koontz.

Autism

Shepherd is described as such: "He's been diagnosed autistic, also high-functioning autistic. He's never violent, and sometimes he's highly communicative, so was once even diagnosed with Asperger syndrome."[1]

Reception

Author Dean Koontz received positive feedback from parents of autistic children for his portrayal of Shep.[2]
